Our Story
My name is Chris Hedges and I am the sole proprietor and designer/craftsman at AedanWorks.
For me, working with wood is about more than shaping and joining pieces together to create a whole: It’s about creating a tangible object that tells a story and, like all good stories, it’s a collaborative effort. Whether your needs are functional or purely aesthetic, it is my goal to work with you to bring to fruition your ideas and help you tell the story of your life and, ultimately, the story of us.
My Education
After receiving a M.A from Ohio University, I spent two years at the University of Rio Grande’s Fine Woodworking program studying everything from basic cabinet making to period furniture, finishing, and carving. During my education, I learned a deep appreciation for hand work and attention to detail. As a testament to my acquired knowledge, during my second year I won top awards at the 2007 Fresh Wood student design competition for the Philadelphia secretary listed in my gallery.
For the past 10 years I have been working diligently to complete as many custom orders as possible and have expanded AedanWorks from a single room in my basement to a fully functional one man furniture studiofocusing on benchcrafted furniture and cabinetry that is inspired by the workmanship and aesthetic of the best of traditional American wood craft.
